"Showrooming" has been a problem for smaller stores for quite some time, looks like it finally got Target irritated enough to do something about it. I wonder if Amazon's holiday promotion rewarding shoppers for scanning in prices might have finally pushed them over the edge.Something has to give eventually. Manufacturers may have to subsidize brick-and-mortar with lower wholesale prices. They already pay for choice product placement.
Or perhaps a new business model where independent showrooms get a rev share back from the online retailer.
