Irked at Delay In Receiving Emails on BlackBerry

by Sufian on April 1, 2009 · 4 comments

I now have three email accounts hooked up on my blackberry. All three are IMAP with two of the three being a Google Apps and Gmail account.

Over the past month or so I’ve noticed a steady increase in the time it takes for messages to reach my inbox. Currently it takes a good 15+ minutes for emails to arrive on my BlackBerry after they were sent. Even though I can live with the delay, I think it’s ridiculous. I didn’t have to wait this long to get emails on my iPhone.

Has anyone else with a BlackBerry (specifically on t-mobile’s network) experienced this issue?

I have recently started experiencing this same issue as well. I’m an AT&T subscriber. It all started when I heard about the new BIS upgrade at AT&T supporting syncronization of read emails (one way, only – but that’s something). I deleted and recreated the email account to make those changes go through. Since then I have had the delays. I have deleted the email account in the att.blackberry.com interface again, and recreated it, which caused new service books to be sent. For a few hours email was back to being instant delivery. By the next day, however, I was back to a 10-15 minute delay. It’s driving me and my clients insane since they’re used to me replying within a minute or two!

I Wonder if this is an issue with the new version of BIS? If that’s the case, it will probably never be fixed. Looks like it might be time to look for service on Verizon.

Makes me think twice about moving giving the G1 a try, but I don’t wanna ditch my 8900.

My company is currently with Verizon, I have this problem with one of our 15 blackberry users.
