Password Security

by Sufian on April 9, 2007

Don’t mind this…I’m just ranting.

IT recently implemented a 30-day password expiry policy for the windows network; a change from the previous 90-day policy. That means every 30 days I have to change the stupid password to something I’ve never used before plus it has to be 8 chars and 1 digit in length.

Now, I understand the need/want to be secure, but this is just way to much of a hassle!

Howdy,
My name is Al Sacco, and I’m a writer with CIO.com. We recently did a product review of a password manager that is designed to help folks like you who are required to change passwords regularly. Not only does it store your passwords so you don’t have to remember them, it can generate passwords of up to 14 characters based on administrator or user-specified “schemas.” Check it out:

Hi Al,

Thanks for link. That was an excellent review. Unfortunately, I’m one of those people advised to steer clear because I no longer use Windows as my main OS both at work and at home. If that were not the case I would consider getting it!
