Icemat, a company known for its superior quality headsets, has released the in-ear version of their Siberia headset. Many already know the great quality the full-sized headset offers, but the myth that full-sized headsets offer superior quality sound compared to in-ear headsets has now been squashed. The Icemat Siberia In:Ear Headset not only offers high quality sound, but it also is easy to take along anywhere compared to its full-sized counterpart.
The Icemat Siberia In:Ear comes in two flavors: the headset and the headphones. The headset version comes with a mic whereas the headphones version only has the earbuds.

Microphone Specs

The package that the headset comes in contains the earbuds, a 1.8m cable extension, a mic, and a carrying pouch. The extension cable consists of two male and female jacks to connect the headphones and mic in one end and the the male end into your computer/laptop. The female ends have little icons embossed in them to help identify which one is for the headphones and which is for the mic.
The mic has a clip which allows for it to be worn on a persons shirt so it stays out of the way. The performance of the mic was better than originally expected. The piece is designed well and has a handy built-in on/off switch.
One thing with the headset that I thought was weird was the wiring on the headphones. The wire for the right earpiece is significantly shorter than the wire of the left earpiece. By doing a quick search on the internet, the reason behind this design is to allow the wires to go behind the wearers neck and wrap around to the front. I’ve never used headphones with this type of a design so it felt awkward at first, but I got used to it.
For the earbuds, the sleeves can be swapped out with the other two pair that come with the package. Two
of the pairs are normal shaped while the third (the one that is on the earbuds in the package) has triple flanges.
I tested the unit out by listening to music on my powerbook as well as playing an online game on my pc. While playing the audio on my laptop, I noticed very crisp and clear sound. The bass, treble, midrange, all were very well balanced, which is surprising for an in-ear headphone set. While playing the online game I chatted with fellow team members as we played CTF. The weapon firing, footsteps, and all other sounds in the game made me feel like I was actually there, which makes for great game play.
Overall, I was very satisfied with the Icemat Siberia In:Ear Headset. Don’t let the size of this unit fool you. It’s just as good as carrying around your full-sized headphones for those LAN parties, or to listen to music while working out at the gym.
The Icemat Siberia In:Ear Headset is available in white and black color and retails for $49.95USD.
