I was just taking a break from coding for the past hour and I found this article on MSN which was quite interesting. The author, Alan Mozes, states that sleep deprivation is the cause of weight gain.
“We all need to be aware there is a relationship between sleep and obesity,” says J. Catesby Ware, chief of the division of sleep medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School, and director of the Sleep Disorder Center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Va.
What do you think? Have you slept less lately and found yourself to be less energetic and even gained a few unwanted pounds? I think this might be something because even though I’m very health concious these days, no matter how much I’m hitting the gym, I’ve gained a few; so I think Mozes is right, and I’m going to try to sleep more.
I actually felt very burned out yesterday. I got home from work around 6pm and went to bed at 8:45pm! Granted I woke up at 4am, but I felt a lot better. Not knowing what to do at 4am because I couldn’t go back to sleep, I went to the gym for about 90 minutes to do some cardio.
