Hey! I’ll be posting random thoughts and comments here in the blog and a full report on events/information on the PDC page which you can view either under “pages” on the right hand side or on my PDC coverage page on HWG.

5:32pm
Since the last update I’ve attended a various sessions from developing custom UI for Office12 programs to XML in SQL Server 2005. One thing that I thought was interesting was that Michael Rys (the speaker for the SQL session) mentioned that Gates was incorrect in his keynote when he said that SQL Server 2005 will transition to XML. He said that they’ve invested 30 years of development in relational queries to just start over with XML.

1:00pm
Attending Hillel Cooperman’s session entitled “How to get people to love your software.” He’s going to talk about software development and use Microsoft MAX (one of his latest projects) as an example. I’ll post more about it in the write-up.

11:00am
I left after Jim Aldrich’s presentation. The code guys were showing off some code and I got kind of bored so AA and I went to Kentia Hall to pick up our DVDs. They include Vista, VS2005, and a few other goodies. I’ll post a pic in the flickr blog later tonight with ALL photos.

8:45am
Paul Thurrott and I got seats in the front row center for the PDC. Finally after waiting close to an hour in line + waiting close to 20 minutes in the hall they started the keynote. I captured a vid of the opening movie and also in the first few minutes of Gates’s speach he showed an amusing video which also included John Heder (napolean dynamite).

5:00am
I woke up early to get a head start on my way from Irvine to LACC. I left the house at 6am and got stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic around 6:20am in the city of Santa Fe Springs. I arrived @ the convention center at 7am and headed for the press room.
